Brad Shields

ENGLAND BACK-ROW FORWARD

Brad Shields currently plays as a loose forward for the England rugby team and Wasps premiership team. New Zealand-born Brad previously played for Wellington in New Zealand’s domestic Mitre 10 Cup and was Captain of the Hurricanes in the international Super Rugby competition. In November 2017 Brad signed with English Premiership team Wasps.

Brad represented New Zealand Under-17 in 2008 before being a member of the New Zealand Under-20 side which won the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship in Italy. He was named in All Blacks training squads in 2012 and 2016 but did not go on to make his senior international debut for the All Blacks.

In November 2016, Brad featured for the Barbarians at Wembley Stadium. He played the entire game at flanker in a side containing two of his Hurricanes teammates.

In June 2018, Brad, who has two English parents, made his debut for England in South Africa during their three-test series against the Springboks, but only after being granted a release by New Zealand Rugby ahead of his permanent move to Wasps.

The England flanker unfortunately missed out on being fit for the 2019 World Cup after being ruled out with a foot injury.
