Ruaridh McConnochie

ENGLAND RUGBY BACK

A former England sevens star, Ruaridh McConnochie switched to 15-a-side rugby for the 2018/19 season.

He was a silver Olympic medallist with Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and World Cup finalist with England.

Taking up the game at the age of seven with London Scottish, Ruaridh captained his sevens side at Cranbrook School and went on to represent England at student and county level.

He was part of the Great Britain Students side that won the sixth World University Sevens Championship in São José dos Campos, Brazil, in August 2014. His England Sevens debut arrived in Dubai in December 2015 and he scored a debut try against Kenya.

A regular try-scorer in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, a year later, Ruaridh played an integral role in England’s gold medal triumph in Cape Town in December 2016.

He also touched down in the 14-12 quarter-final win over New Zealand in Vancouver in March 2017 on the way to England’s gold medal success
